On the second Monday of each January, Georgia’s 180 members of the House of Representatives and 56 Senators convene in the State Capitol. During each 40 day session, legislation is introduced which could, if it becomes law, affect you, your business and the entire factory-built housing industry.
Our industry’s continued visibility to legislators is vital. One of the primary ways we maintain that visibility is through the Georgia Manufactured Housing Political Action Committee (GMHPAC).
The elected officials who recognize the importance of the factory-built housing industry to Georgia’s overall economic growth, and who work to ensure that their constituents have the option to live in the home of their choice, including factory-built homes, need our support.
Note…
- General funds of the Georgia Manufactured Housing Association, Inc., cannot be used for contributions to candidates. This policy is in compliance with state law since some members of GMHA are regulated by the state Public Service Commission.
- State law does allow Georgia corporations, and corporations licensed to do business in Georgia, to contribute to a political action committee.
- Public Service Commission-regulated companies may not contribute to a political action committee fund.
- Corporate contributions to a political action committee fund are not tax-deductible.
- Personal contributions to a political action committee fund qualify for tax credit on Federal income tax returns.
- By law the GMHPAC may make campaign contributions only to candidates for statewide constitutional offices and state legislative positions.
- GMHPAC complies with all state laws and reporting requirements.
- GMHPAC funds are placed in a bank account separate from the general account of the Association.
- Contributors to GMHPAC may receive, upon written request, an annual report on receipts and expenditures of GMHPAC.
