With today’s manufactured home, you have three basic options as to where you can locate or site your new manufactured home. The first is to place your manufactured home on land you own or intend to buy. The second option is to place your home on a leased home site in a traditional, manufactured home land/lease community. Thirdly, you may decide to buy a manufactured home and land as a package in a manufactured housing subdivision, or you could purchase a pre-owned manufactured home already sited in any of these types of locations.

If you choose the option to place your manufactured home on private property, you must consider factors that affect all forms of housing such as zoning laws, restrictive covenants and utility connection regulations. To find out this information, you should contact your county’s zoning and or planning director through your county commissioner’s office. Many times, your GMHA retailer will offer guidance in this area as well.
